Book Exhibitions

In November of last year, the world’s largest Spanish-language book fair was once again held in Guadalajara, Mexico, welcoming Spain as the guest of honor and drawing a record-breaking attendance of nearly one million visitors. In addition, B.K. Agency accepted the invitation by Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) to act as the rights director of the Taiwan Pavilion, promoting content to both local and international publishers.

This year, our agency extended its visit to two weeks, working under the direction of TAICCA. As specialists in the local publishing market and representatives of Taiwanese creators, we developed a commercial campaign to introduce Taiwanese literature to the Spanish-language publishing market, called “How Far Will I Go?” As part of this initiative, a selection of 10 Taiwanese works already published in Spanish were promoted in a catalogue distributed across five bookstores and more than 58 shops. The main visual concept for this campaign exhibited the work of  the renowned illustrator Jimmy Liao, whose popularity in the Spanish-speaking world and colorful works resonate with readers’ preferences.

As cultural ambassadors and advocates for the Taiwanese publishing industry, our represented authors, Bei Lynn (Practicing Goodbye) and Hsu-Kung Liu (The Orange Horse), had the opportunity to travel to Mexico, where they hold workshops and lectures to connect with their local readers.

Recognizing Mexico’s significance as a key market for Spanish-language publications—boasting a large number of publishing houses and internationally renowned authors—our campaign included events in both Guadalajara and Mexico City. Beyond connecting directly with their audience, the authors also exchanged insights with local publishing professionals, internationally recognized illustrators, and media representatives.

  • IBBY – Bei Lynn collaborated with four local illustrators to decorate a wall of the Mexican branch of IBBY
  • FCE – Book presentations and workshops.
  • Gandhi – The ambassador of Taiwan in Mexico hosted a reception for our local partners

Recognizing the influence of both traditional media and digital content creators in amplifying our campaign’s impact, we invited a select group of professionals to document and cover our journey in Mexico. Their coverage helped us reach an estimated audience of 144,000 followers, while also securing features on local and national radio, newspapers, and TV stations, further elevating the visibility of Taiwanese literature.

In Guadalajara, we deepened our relation with industry professionals, holding meetings with editors and publishers to promote translation rights. Through our collaboration with TAICCA, we not only represented Taiwanese creators but also played a key role in expanding the reach of Taiwan’s publishing industry. Our mission was clear: to forge stronger connections with international creative and cultural business, opening new doors for cross-market collaborations.
